In response to the continuous lockdown restrictions the Fiji National Provident Fund has announced the extension of the contribution payment deadline.
According to a statement from the fund the deadline for contribution payments has been extended to May 31, 2021.
FNPF stated it understood many businesses were shut down to comply with the lockdown and this had affected their cash flow and ability to submit contribution payments for their staff.
“Employers had been given an extension until today to pay April contributions for their staff, however, given the new containment dates, the fund has now extended the payment deadline to the end of May,” said acting chief executive officer Viliame Vodonaivalu.
“We appreciate the efforts of employers in terms of assisting their staff to apply for the lockdown relief and we hope that this extension will also provide some relief for them.”
FNPF stated to qualify for the extension and penalty waiver, employers were required to submit their contribution schedules to the fund by April 30.
The fund’s business hours have been revised in line with the curfew hours for Viti Levu as from Wednesday May 19, the fund’s opening hours will be from 8:30am to 3.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am to 3pm on Friday.
“We encourage our members and employers to continue to engage with us through our digital platforms, for their safety as well as the safety of our staff.
“These operating hours will be in place until the national restrictions that have been imposed to control the spread of the coronavirus, are lifted,” said Mr Vodonaivalu.
