POLICE have not arrested anyone for breaching the COVID-19 restrictions within the Nadi and Lautoka containment area.

This, according to Divisional Police Commander West Senior Superintendent of Police Surend Sami.

“At the moment, we are asking people to be more responsible and follow the COVID instructions announced by our PM and the Ministry of Health,” SSP Sami said.

“We have made no arrests yet but, rest assured, our officers are working round-the-clock to protect our borders and people.”

SSP Sami said officers had been given strict instructions to follow at each border in Nadi and Lautoka.

“They all know that people are not allowed to leave the border.

“There were people coming into the border on Monday and Tuesday but they were residents who were going back to their homes.

“So far, we are moving around and raising awareness to our people to maintain all the COVID protocols during the lockdown.”
