TAILEVU rugby team head coach Seremaia Bai said taking on former Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy champion Namosi this weekend would be a challenge.

He said his side had the advantage because they would host the Skipper Cup encounter.

“It will be tough, but once they cross the Rewa Bridge, they will be in our territory,” Bai said.

“Still it is a great challenge. “They are a champion side with a lot of good players and a great coach.”

For Bai, the challenge will be doubled having only taken over the reins this week, but has remained optimistic.

“I just took over on Monday, but still I won’t use that as an excuse.

“We have 14 games ahead and I am trying to create an environment where this team will grow and hopefully we will try and compete.

“I am sure this year, we will be competitive.”

Bai said he was happy with the players in his squad although there were still a lot of work ahead.

“We will take it one game at a time and make sure our boys work hard for that jersey.”

Tailevu hosts Namosi tomorrow at the Nakelo District School ground at 3pm.
