Sam Lee carded a brilliant four under par 68 to take out the professional section during the Vuksich and Borich sponsored Fiji Professional Golfers Association 2021 Classic at the Natadola Bay Championship golf course on Saturday.

Lee was a class above the rest to claim the first prize purse of $600 in the 18 holes stroke event.

Vikrant Chandra and Roneel Prakash were tied for second spot after scoring two under par 70. They collected $400 each.

Viliame Sorowale finished fourth with one under par 71 receiving $320. Fiji’s leading amateur player Abid Hussain won the overall gross title. He scored 70.

Hermant Kumar won the overall net with 70 net. Nitulesh Mali won the A Grade net title.

Mali edged Praveer Chand and Dennis Singh following a countback after all three golfers returned with a score of 75.

Mark Patterson won the B Grade net title. He scored 71. Eapi Deku claimed the second spot after edging Kavitesh Prasad on a countback.

Both golfers scored 73. Kamlesh Karan won the C Grade net title after scoring 71.

Richard ‘Cardo’ Slatter was second with 75 net and Niven Padarath finished third with 76 net.

Raina Kumar won the ladies best gross title with 83 while Susan Yee claimed the best net title with 73. Fiji PGA treasurer Amitesh Chandra said 70 players participated in the one day event.

Chandra said the great weather and course conditions allowed close tussle among the golfers.

“We would like to thank Natadola Bay Golf Club for hosting a magnificent event especially to operations manager Avinesh Datt for his tireless effort,” Chandra said.

“The Global Girmit Institute sponsored Girmit Open Championship is the next event on our calendar.

“This Pro-Am tournament will be played at the Lautoka Golf Club course on April 3.

“The professionals will play for a total prize purse of $4000 while there will be $1000 worth of prizes for the amateurs.”

Entry fee for the tournament is $40 which will include a T-shirt and lunch.
