A Citizens Budget Guide was launched today aimed at improving people’s perception of budget and to promote accountability and transparency in public financial management.

The guide is developed by the Fiji Council of Social Services (FCOSS) with the support of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Pacific Islands Association of Non-Governmental Organisations (PIANGO).

The European Union (EU)-funded guide will promote good governance and verify the effectiveness of public funds in compliance with people’s needs.

The two-day conference was attended by District Councils of Social Services (DCOSS) from Nasinu, Nausori, Lami and Suva, District Advisory Councillors from the Central Division, Staff of Divisional Commissioners offices from Central/Eastern division, NGO representatives from Rainbow Pride Fiji, YWCA Fiji, Fiji Council of Churches, Adventist Development Relief Agency Fiji and representatives from the Citizens Constitutional Forum.

The workshop ended today.
