Not out yet – Rabuka to contest 2022 General Election

Ousted Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) leader Sitiveni Rabuka says he will contest the 2022 general election.

However, the Opposition Leader did not commit to supporting the party nor its new leader when questioned yesterday.

“Not necessarily” was his response when quizzed by the media after news broke yesterday that he was no longer SODELPA leader.

Party president Ratu Epenisa Cakobau acknowledged Mr Rabuka’s contribution and said the party was aware of the challenge before them in terms of garnering support and the trust of voters.

SODELPA’s management board will take the names of the new party leader and deputy party leader to the annual general meeting today before announcing them publicly.
