Vodafone Fiji is aiming to complete its $210 million network expansion and modernisation project in the next two weeks.
This according to acting CEO Ronald Prasad yesterday where he revealed the project was said to have concluded in April however there were some delays with COVID-19 and unfavourable weather.
“We are glad to announce that this project is now in the final leg of completion and is expected to be wrapped up in the next two weeks.
“We have added 147 new sites, bringing our total to 540 sites.
“We have upgraded 100 sites from 3G to 4G, bringing our 4G coverage to 85 per cent of Fiji’s population, almost three times that of any other provider in Fiji.”
He said with this investment the company now covered 96 per cent of Fiji’s population.
“We have also increased smartphone penetration on our network to 85 per cent.
“This is a significant achievement by any standards and from a technology point of view, Fiji ranks second to none in the region.
“Connectivity and digital technologies have proven effective during these trying times,” he said.
The company also revised its entire suite of data packages with increases ranging from 10 to 15 per cent on smaller plans and up to 400 per cent on lager plans.
“We realise the importance of connectivity and data for our customers and are pleased to announce revisions to our plans, so we can continue to provide a much better user experience to our customers.
“With much stronger network and greater capacity, Vodafone understands the ever growing demand for faster speeds and greater value.
“Vodafone Fiji is therefore happy to announce its new data plans and packages that will benefit all our customers.”
He said this was to ensure there was greater freedom of choice for their customers, depending on their level of affordability.
