Foreign yachts can only berth at the Vuda Marina and Port Denarau Marina, says the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF).

In a notice issued on August 4, MSAF’s manager qualifications and licensing Captain Tomasi Kete said these two ports were the only authorised berthing areas for yachts coming in from overseas.

“In light of the Blue Lane initiative by the Government, this notice serves to inform all maritime stakeholders the following locations have been approved as quarantine zones for foreign yachts that arrive into the country,” Capt Kete said.

He said once the yachts berthed, they would be under surveillance.

“Yachts will be quarantined under surveillance of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and Fiji Navy.

“All movement by quarantine yachts is strictly prohibited during the quarantine period.”

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum during a meeting with the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday said more than 20 yachts had arrived into Fiji under the Blue Lane initiative.
