DPP: 12 charged for sexual offences in May

Twelve people were charged with a total of 17 counts of separate sexual-related offences in May alone this year, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) revealed.

In its sexual offences statistics released today for May, it noted that of the 12 people charged, two were juveniles.

“There were two separate incidents where a 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were charged with the rape of a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl from their respective schools,” the ODPP stated.

“There were 11 victims of whom seven victims were under the age of 18 years,” it stated.

It added that there six incidents where the victims and the accused were related to one another.
