Man arrested for hiding in a drain

POLICE arrested a man for breaching the curfew hours after he was found hiding in a drain near the Muslim League Settlement in Nabua, Suva last night.

Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said the 27-year-old suspect was one of the 14 arrested in the Southern Division for breaching the curfew hours.

“In total, 16 arrests were made, 14 in the Southern Division, while the northern and western divisions both recorded one case each,” Brig-Gen Qiliho said.

“Other arrests made in the Southern Division include a 40-year-old man who was found to be allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol when stopped by officers at a checkpoint in Pacific Harbour.

“Also arrested were his two passengers aged 30 and 35.”
