A DAY before Fiji’s first case of COVID-19 was announced, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama told residents of a Nadi settlement that the virus would change the way Fijians lived their lives.

“Let us be prepared for the arrival of coronavirus into Fiji, our lives will never be the same,” he said while addressing Ledrusasa settlement residents in Votualevu on Wednesday night.

Mr Bainimarama urged residents to change the way they looked at things as this was a time for much needed change.

“We need to change the way we look at things,” the Prime Minister said. “This is the time we need to change our thinking.”

Mr Bainimarama said Fijians needed to re-look at the way they did things and the culture of socialising and large gatherings needed to be minimised.

He also urged senior citizens to manage their lives well as they would be the most vulnerable to the COVID-19 pandemic.
