THE Vuda Green Rugby Club 7s team is taking a serious approach towards the 33rd Fiji Bitter Nawaka Sevens this weekend.
“They have been playing from late last year during the festive season participating in various 7s tournaments around the Western Division,” said head coach Iferemi Naruma.
“They have also played in the Lautoka Rugby Union’s organised 10s tournament.”
A squad of 25 players will carry the hopes of the club at the annual meet.
The participation of the club at the biggest 7s tournament in the Western Division lays the platform for other clubs in exposing talents.
“The Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s will be a stepping stone towards the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s.”
Vatiliai Tuisabeto and Laisenia Tora are two talents expected to marshal a mostly youthful squad.
Tuisabeto played at rover for the Lautoka rugby team in the Vanua Challenge last year and also featured for Pio Tuwai’s Westfield Dragons side.
“All are a new breed of players mostly school leavers playing with only two experienced hands in the team.”
Vuda Green is pooled with Shangri-La’s Fijian, TF Army Tu Vakarau and Seniboro Blues in Pool 7.
“We are not taking any teams lightly in our pool. Our focus is to keep youths away from engaging in criminal activities. Some notable players who have donned the green jersey of the Vuda Green Rugby Club include Taniela Rawaqa, Ifereimi Rawaqa and Laisenia Tora.

The two-day Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s will be held on Friday and Saturday. Police is the champion.
