ODPP: 38 lawmen charged for non-sexual violence offences

THIRTY-EIGHT police officers were charged for non-sexual violence offences in 2019.

This was revealed today by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) when releasing the serious crime statistics recorded from January 1 to December 31 last year.

The statistics revealed there were a total of 674 people charged with a total of 1112 separate counts of serious criminal offences as of December 31, 2019.

Of the 674 charged, 75 were under the age of 18 years.

Meanwhile, there were 467 victims of the 1112 counts of separate incidents and there were six incidents where the accused and victims were related to one another.

Of the 467, there were 69 offences where the accused and the victim were related.

The offences for each month were: January (52), February (152), March (57), April (126), May (86), June (234), July (94), August (50), September (66), October (97), November (41), December (57).
