THE hunger of becoming a national sevens rep in the future forced Ilisoni Kuriyalavou from Draiba village and  Ratu Meli Nakasavu from Keiyasi village in the interior of Navosa to leave their homes and travel 120 kilometres to Namatakula village wanting to play for the Ratu Filise under 17 team in the Nadroga rugby sevens tournament that kicked off at Lawaqa Park and Kalevu ground yesterday.

Kuriyalavou studies in Navosa Central School and Nakasavu attends Natabua High School in Lautoka and both lads sacrificed their holidays in the interior to fight for a spot in the Ratu Filise team.

They won all their pool games yesterday and are looking forward to the eliminations tomorrow at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

The Nadroga rugby sevens tournament kicked off yesterday and ends on Saturday with 161 teams competing in six categories.
