A GROUP of good Samaritans landed a hand to the Pacific Animal Shelter & Hospital (PASH) in Legalega, Nadi, where strays and pets have been sheltered and cared for over the past eight months.
Rotaract Club of Nadi members spent three months refinishing a home for a new caretaker and maintenance person hired by the hospital.
Club president Priya Prasad said the refurbished home came at the request of the hospital which had been in need of on site security.
“We initially thought to come and help out with the caring of the animals but they said they needed a person to look after the shelter because they had been having break-ins,” he said.
“So we thought we would come in and help fix up their new home. We saw there was a need and all of the work from painting and new walls was done by our members.”
PASH manager Catherine Powell said they were grateful for the work done by the Rotaract members.
“The house was in need of a little work and looking at the finished product we are extremely happy with it,” she said.
“The shelter needed someone on site after the break-ins we had earlier this year and someone who could do general maintenance work around the place.”
