GOVERNMENT is fond of putting civil servants at the forefront of international scrutiny with an intention to cover their failures, Opposition MP Salote Radrodro said in Parliament yesterday.

Mrs Radrodro said civil servants were always blamed for poor service delivery.

“Civil servants are always punching bags, and when things are not rosy, just like in this case, they are sent by their political masters to face the brunt of international scrutiny and at the same time always being blamed for poor service delivery at home,” she said.

She asked why the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation did not attend a recent UN meeting in Geneva when there were reports of children raping children and of eight women who lost their lives.
