A TOTAL of 82 tons of waste from the Suva city area is being dumped at the Naboro landfill on a daily basis.
This was revealed by Suva City Council Director of Health Services Naresh Narayan during the Japan Official Development Assistance press tour held around the Suva-Nakasi area yesterday.
He said the core function of the municipal councils was within the area of waste management.
“Suva City waste generation is about 82 tons a day, including household garbage, green waste and wide goods,” Mr Narayan said.
“While we generate that amount of solid waste, we need to have a sustainable management plan so that we can manage these wastes.”
