THE Rewa football squad that is gearing up for the Fiji Primary Schools Inter-District Championship this weekend focuses on balancing education with training and getting better results from both.

The Delta under-12 and U14 teams will showcase their talents in the three-day tournament at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori starting tomorrow.

Their aim is to achieve their goal as national champions in the competition.

Rewa Primary Schools Football Association assistant secretary Rohitesh Chand said their preparation had not affected their studies.

“We’ve set up a training program that will not compromise the teachers and the students’ learning programs,” Chand said.

“Education is our priority, but that does not mean we are not focused on the tournament.

“We are optimistic and fully committed to our training and looking forward to a good outcome.”

The Rewa U14 team is the FPSFA Southern Zone champion and its next goal is to win the nationals in the IDC.

“We’ve had a few setbacks in training such as bad weather, but that has not prevented us from fulfilling our dreams of becoming the champion.

“Our U14 team will leave no stones unturned as they gear up for this event.”
