THE SPANISH Navy Frigate ‘Méndez Núñez’ will visit Fiji from September 29-October 1.

A statement issued by the Embassy of Spain in Fiji noted the ship was on its operational deployment.

“While in port, the Frigate will conduct several activities onboard, to highlight the excellent relationship between Fiji and Spain,” the statement said.

The ship’s first circumnavigation expedition initiated by Magellan in 1519 and completed by Juan Sebastian Elcano in 1522 did not arrive in our islands.

The ship departed Guam some days ago bound for Suva, Fiji.
