STUDENTS and the management of Gospel School for the Deaf had a reason to celebrate this morning as they received a new 30 seater bus from the Japanese Embassy .

Speaking during the handover at the school First Secretary and Head of Development Cooperation Division, Embassy of Japan, Taisuke Iwano applauded the Gospel School for the Deaf for playing such a vital role in ensuring no one was left behind by making a crucial resource accessible to children with special needs.

“The efforts of the school management in reaching out to families of children with hearing challenges, and in providing affordable hostel and free transportation for the students are admirable,” he said.

“As such the Japanese Government and its people are delighted to be a part of this endeavour.”

School head Nirmal Mudaliar said the new bus that they received from the Japanese Embassy yesterday would benefit the 55 students in the school to travel for school excursions.

“The new bus is a replacement for an old bus donated to the school by the embassy in 2003 which has grown old from its years of service,” she said.
