AUSTRALIA has jumped three placings to finish in second place at the end of day 9 of the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa.
Fiji has now dropped to 5th position with 24 gold, 27 silver and 33 bronze medals.
Tahiti is in fourth place with 26 gold, 30 silver and 30 bronze medals while hosts Samoa is in third position with 27 gold, 28 silver and 33 bronze medals.
However, PNG is closing in on Fiji after raking in numerous gold medals from athletics.
New Caledonia still maintains that steady lead on the medal tally with 36 gold, 39 silver and 34 bronze medals.
