THE Southern Police rugby team have once again retained the Commissioners Cup for 2018 after they defeated Police Head Quarters 24-16 at the Nasova ground in Suva today.

The Solomone Nute-coached side defended the silverware against five teams around the country in five consecutive weeks and are ready to defend the next trophy in the cabinet, and that is the Rupeni Ravounu trophy.

Nute said he told the boys to keep it simple and stick to the basics and they had achieved that goal.

“Keep it tight, play as a team and control our set piece and than verything will fall into place,” he said.

“The boys have really worked hard and I would like to thank them for their hard work, especially the support from DPC, DD and all the OCs and the supporters from the Southern Division, including the maritime zones and not forgetting Rotuma.”

Police will now focus on defending the Escott Shield this weekend in the Suva Rugby Union club games.
