RADISSON Blu Resort and Spa’s six-month-old restaurant Basilico has been voted the best restaurant on Denarau Island by Trip Advisor.
The Italian restaurant was the stand out for guests who voted for the Top 10 restaurant’s on the island for 2019.
Resort general manager Charles Homsy said it was a great recognition of the effort put in by the staff and team of Basilico.
“It’s always good to be No. 1 and for this restaurant we really worked on it,” he said.
“It is only six months old and the staffs have done a tremendous job and this is a beautiful recognition for the staff because this is where the guests themselves recognise the staff, the chef and the service.
“The food is good and the service is great and we always try to make it a very relaxed experience for them.”
Radisson Blu Resort Fiji Denarau Island Food and Beverage director Danny Tanaka said the entire resort had been able to excel because of its people.
“Without our staff, the resort would not be half as good,” Mr Tanaka said.
“For Basilico we were ranked 38 in December last year but today we are moved at No. 1.
“Now the toughest task for us is going to be maintaining that spot.
“It is not just the service team but it is also the kitchen team.
“They do all of the pasta home-made which sets it apart from all of the other restaurants. That is one of the unique selling points that we have.
“On top of that we have the warm Fijian hospitality which has been another element that contributed to our success.”
The resort celebrated the eatery’s recognition on Wednesday night with a celebratory cocktail with guests and industry partners.
