Tailevu remains in top flight

TAILEVU Rugby team will remain in the Skipper Cup competition.

Manager Lepani Matea said they needed to work extra hard to remain in the Skipper Cup competition.

“Tailevu remains in the Skipper Cup competition,” he said.

“We have proven ourselves and will work on our techniques and game plans for the remaining tournament.

“All we want to do is consolidate our position in the Skipper Cup competition.

“We had a good outing in the Vanua competition and I am grateful to the players for stepping up, bearing the tough training and most of all in our overall performance I could say the players were disciplined on and off the field.”

He added that players deserve recognition for playing their hearts out.

“Majority of these players are unemployed, hats off to them for giving their time to play for Tailevu.

“They really pulled themselves up against Naitasiri last week and they put out their best performance.

“Now that the Skipper Cup season is over we will go back to the drawing board and work on our mistakes as we prepare for the HFC Farebrother Challenge cup.”

Tailevu leveled the scores against Naitasiri 15-all last week at Ratu Cakobau Park. They are ranked sixth in the points table.
