THE Fiji National Civil Society Organization (CSO) Capacity Strengthening Workshop would provide a real insight into the challenges faced by those who work for positive change in rural communities.

Fiji Council of Social Services (FCOSS) Executive Director, Vani Catanasiga said this while addressing participants at the three day workshop which is hosted by the FCOSS and was held at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) in Suva this morning.

Ms Catanasiga said FCOSS was trying to build the capacity so that those coming from the rural areas, influence change in policies and program and also ensure there is change in the communities.

“While they are engaged in this policy forum at that district levels, what we want to do is add value on what they are doing already,” she said.

“This is particularly significant because our own set of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) requires that we all work as stakeholders and in order for the SDG to be achieved in Fiji by 2030, it needs to have a multi stakeholder approach and this is what we are trying to do to prepare them to engage in that effectively.”

The workshop will end on Thursday.
