Ikanivere commends U20 team despite loss

VODAFONE Fiji Under 20 captain Tevita Ikanivere says he is thankful for his team’s performance despite the 16-0 loss to the Junior Wallabies during their Oceania Rugby Under 20 Championship match at the Bond Rugby University grounds earlier this week.

“We learned from last week’s mistakes against New Zealand but unfortunately, we couldn’t convert when we had the time to convert,” Ikanivere said.

Fiji missed three crucial penalties in the first half that would have thrown the game wide open.

“We missed three penalties in the first half and they led us into the second half.

“We had our opportunities and we just needed a bit more patience,” Ikanivere added.

For the final round of the Oceania Rugby Under 20s Championship, Fiji will play Japan at 7pm at the Bond Rugby University grounds and hosts Australia will take on defending champions the Baby Blacks.
