FIJI National Rugby League chairman Peni Musunamasi has confirmed that nine local women rugby league players have been given the opportunity to represent Fiji in their upcoming matches.

The national women’s team will play Papua New Guinea and the Cook Islands in June.

“Trials had been conducted last week in Nadi,” Musunamasi said.

“And nine local women rugby players have been selected to be part of the June Tests.”

The nine players chosen will meet the nine overseas-based players who have also been selected by Vodafone Fiji Bati coach and national women’s nines coach Brandon Costin.

“The players will travel to Australia where they will meet up with the remaining squad.”

The final squad will be announced later by the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee.
