High Court allows State 21 days to file information in rape case

Listen to this article:

THE High Court in Suva has given 21 days time for the State to file information and disclosures in a case involving a mother who allegedly raped her three-year-old daughter.

The woman appeared before judge Justice Daniel Goundar today charged with one count of rape.

It is alleged the mother raped her daughter between September 2018 and January 2019 in Suva.

The court heard the child was under the care of the Department of Social Welfare and was currently undergoing counselling sessions and kept at St Christopher’s Home.

The defence informed the court that nobody was claiming custody of the child at this stage.

The case has been adjourned to May 6 for a plea.
