“PUT on your uniform and serve complete strangers wholeheartedly and with integrity.”

This was the advice by Fiji’s Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho to more than 200 new police recruits during the opening of the first batch of Police recruitment for 2019.

Brig-Gen Qiliho told the new cops that the next four months would be a futile exercise and that their lives now belonged to the people they served.

“Recruits – whether you are serving in Fiji, Nauru or Tuvalu, if you don’t have the passion and you’re not willing to dedicate your entire being to serving others, I can guarantee that you are going to have a very turbulent career as a police officer,” Brig-Gen Qiliho said.

“You need passion if you are to succeed in this profession. It’s the passion that drives you to wake up every morning, put on your uniform and serve complete strangers wholeheartedly and with integrity.

“This is a vital element of policing that you need to possess, and it’s a virtue that cannot be taught or forced on you.”
