THE Fiji Roads Authority is concerned with the dumping of rubbish in drains on road reserves.

FRA chief executive officer Jonathan Moore said this contributed to flooding after a heavy downpour.

Mr Moore is also advising members of the public not to dump refuse and domestic wastes, not to use of undersized culverts or bury drains because those also contributed to flooding.

He said floods caused by private drains were the responsibility of the property owner.

“When drains are not kept clean, the stormwater overflows onto the roads, which not only damaged the road infrastructure but also exposed members of the public to water-borne diseases.
