FOR Nauru national Marsh Faatigi, competing in a national event would be a dream come true.

Faatigi won a gold medal in the discus event and has been hailed by Marist Champagnat Institute PEMAC teacher, Ritesh Prasad as one of the medal prospects for the school in the Zone One competition.

The 19-year-old Year 13 student said he had never competed in the Coca-Cola Games or the zone competition and he hoped this year would be the year he represented his school.

“This is my first year to ever take part in this event and after winning a gold medal for my house, I hope I can be able to win a gold medal for the school,” said Faatigi.

He did not know of his throwing talents until his form teacher encouraged him to try the event.

“I am not familiar with this event, but my form teacher encouraged me to take part, so I took part.”

Faatigi is in Fiji for education and lives with his relatives.

“Living far away from my parents is hard and I miss them every day, but I am working hard in school and cannot wait to see them again.”
