REPUBLIC of Fiji Navy chief Commander Humphrey Tawake’s main focus this year is to give a fair share of overseas training opportunities to all ranks within their institution.

During an interview at his Stanley Brown Naval Base office at Walu Bay in Suva, he said their biggest defence partners that provided training were Australia, USA, India, New Zealand, China, Korea and Malaysia.

“Some offer the same thing like initial officer training across the board while some offer different sets of skills in technical areas. We have training in capacity professional building in the Fiji Navy,” Cmdr Tawake said.

“Something I am targeting as a priority is the ongoing development training not only for the officers level but throughout other ranks from the most senior sailor to the junior sailor so that the youngest in this organisation should know where we are going, what we are trying to achieve and what we want to become,” he added.
