THE Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission will rope in technical expertise to help in investigations pertaining to allegations over the Lagilagi Housing Project in Raiwaqa, Suva.

This was confirmed by the commission’s chief executive officer, Joel Abraham, who also said the project involved a lot of areas that needed technical expertise such as engineers.

“People should understand that this is not a crusade against the People’s Community Network (PCN) who are responsible for overseeing the project.

“What we have before us are allegations from people living in Jittu Estate and we will need to prove based on evidence,” he said.

Mr Abraham said every stakeholder linked to the project was under the spotlight and they would be taken in for questioning as well.

“There are a lot of people involved in this investigation because it’s a housing project, it involves engineers and surveyors, so all these stakeholders will be brought in for questioning, even officials under the ministry which was responsible for assisting PCN oversee the project.

“We are an independent organisation and it’s our duty to establish the truth of allegations against the dealings in Lagilagi,”he said.

Mr Abraham has called on residents of Jittu Estate to come forward if they had issues related to the project.

“The investigation will undergo four phases and we are currently in the early stages of investigations.

“Our next step is looking at having a meeting with PCN, we also need to hear their side of the story,” he said.
