FIJI’s rugby town in Sigatoka is set to feel the heat as the Cuvu Collegian Rugby Sevens Tournament kicks-off tomorrow at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

“It will be a great day of competition as well as for rugby,” said Nadroga Rugby Union president Tiko Matawalu.

“This is done for the youths so that they may engage themselves during this festive season.”

Matawalu said the number of registered teams had exceeded the number of required teams at the competition, but all will be done to accommodate all teams.

“An influx of teams in the under 19 grade as teams are vying for two qualifying spots going into the Coral Coast Youth Sevens,” he said.

“This shows how healthy the sport is with our young rugby players, and they will all get a chance to play for some of them will be future national rugby stars.”

The under 13 and under 17 grade begin their competition tomorrow with the under 15 and under 19 to compete on Friday before the open men and women’s teams compete on Saturday.

Tickets are priced at $7 for adults and $5 for children under the age of 12 for both the grandstand and embankment area.
