ALL student and staff services are operating as usual, the University of the South Pacific (USP) has confirmed.

This is after a after a fire engulfed one of its main buildings last month – USP Communications Building – at the Laucala Campus in Suva which houses the Student Administrative Services, Pacific Technical and Further Education and the Centre for Flexible Learning.

Responding to question by Fiji Times Online, the university said its operation was as usual.

“There are internal processes to follow and we are also awaiting the fire report from NFA before making further statements in this regard,” USP stated.

Some 300 staff of the USP Laucala Campus had to vacate their respective offices as fire fighters attended to the fire at the Student Academic Services building on the November 22.

Staff of the Faculty of Arts and Law, and Education, Faculty of Business and Economics, and including the book centre were all evacuated because of the close proximity of their buildings to the USP Communications Building.
