A 36-YEAR-OLD Sigatoka man who raped his nine-year-old sister has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.

The incident occurred when the victim was placed under the care of her older brother after her mother was imprisoned for killing her sister.

Judge Justice Aruna Aluthge delivered the sentence and said child rape was one of the most severe forms of sexual violence.
