EMPLOYERS in Fiji have been urged by the Employment Ministry not to prevent employees who are working tomorrow on Election Day from voting.

While tomorrow is a public holiday, the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations has reiterated that employers must make the necessary arrangements to ensure that their operations are not affected.

Whether it is early in the morning or later in the day, a statement from the ministry stated that workers and employers have been urged to cast their votes before the closure of the polling venue.

The Ministry has also highlighted that for employers who will operate on Election Day must pay their workers their public holiday pay in accordance with section 67 of the Employment Relations Act 2007.
