SEVEN cases were withdrawn by the Courts in Fiji after the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution filed nolle prosequi in Court last month.

A statement released by the ODPP stated that in one of the seven cases, a man charged with multiple counts of forgery, uttering forged documents, obtaining money, falsification of accounts and larceny walked free after the ODPP filed for discontinuance.

This was due to loss of police exhibits.

In another case the ODPP had to file for discontinuance after the accused person – a police officer charged with dangerous driving died.

Another five cases were withdrawn due to insufficient evidence.
