SUPERVISOR of Elections Mohammed Saneem this morning demonstrated and outlined the packing of postal packages for the 2018 General Elections.

During the briefing, Mr Saneem said the packages would be sent to postal voters via courier.

Each postal package will contain the following:

– A ballot paper
– One voter instruction booklet
– One postal information pamphlet
– One secret envelope
– One return envelope
– One transmission envelope

Mr Saneem said once the voters received their postal packages, they must use the voter instruction booklet to identify the three digit number of the candidate they wished to vote for.

“To cast a valid vote, voters must ensure that they clearly circle, tick or cross the three digit number of their preferred candidate,” Mr Saneem said.

“After marking the ballot paper, the voter must fold the ballot paper and seal it in a secret envelope and place the secret envelope in the transmission envelope.

“Voters must complete and sign the declaration at the back of the transmission envelope before placing it into the return envelope.

“The information in this declaration must be identical to the application form that was previously completed by the voter and approved by the Fijian Elections Office(FEO), we will be matching it for verification purposes.

“Voters must send their postal ballots to the address printed on the front of the return envelope. We have provided return envelopes in every satchel that’s going out, it’s all prepaid return envelopes so voters don’t necessarily have to go and pay and send it to us, they can just call DHL or EMS to pick it up.”

Mr Saneem said all postal ballots must reach FEO by 6pm on November 14.
