24 roads closed in Central Division, motorists urged to take precaution

TWENTY four roads are now closed in the Central Division due to widespread flooding.

The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) in its situation report issued at 5pm today stated that the list of roads closed include three in the Northern Division and six roads in the Western Division.

With the heavy rain alert in place for the Fiji group, more flooding is expected to occur in low lying areas around the country.

FRA has advised members of the public to take extra caution and avoid places of known historical flooding or low-lying areas.

“Motorists are advised not to drive into water of unknown depth and current, as this can be life threatening,” the authority stated.

Northern Division Update:

• Kilaka Bridge on Kubulau Peninsular in Savusavu               – Open to traffic- drive with Care
• Sigawe Crossing on Namuavoivoi Road in Natua- CLOSED
• Savudrodro Road before Savudrodro Village in Savusavu- CLOSED
• Waibula Bridge on North Coastal Road in Taveuni- CLOSED

 Crossing Status

–              Drana Crossing – Closed

Road Status

–              Barotu Circular Flat – Closed

–              Katudrau – Closed

–              Narara – 1st Crossing- Closed
