SENIOR Research officer at the Fiji Police Intelligence Bureau Robert Turaga has secured a three-year secondment term with the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).
Fiji’s Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said they could not pass up the opportunity to work with INTERPOL.
“Policing is a profession where you can’t afford to have tunnel vision and work in isolation from the rest of the world, so when we get the opportunity to work with one of the world’s biggest police affiliated institutions, we couldn’t pass up this chance to send one of our own,” Brig-Gen Qiliho said.
Mr Turaga said he would use this three-year secondment term with INTERPOL to gain experience and knowledge.
“I am extremely grateful to have the backing of the Commissioner of Police after I showed interest in this opportunity that presented itself,” he said.
“With the exposure, I’ll have in working in an internationally-recognised organisation such as INTERPOL, I am sure to expand my knowledge on information security that will benefit my current work as the senior research officer and the overall outputs of the Fiji Police Force.”
Mr Turaga will be based at INTERPOL headquarters in Lyon, France. He had departed earlier this week.
