A COUPLE of Naduna outside Labasa Town are seeking help from members of the public after their home of three years was razed last Friday night leaving them homeless.

Distraught husband Vereimi Tukana said the incident left them with the only clothes they were wearing.

The Yasawa native said they had nothing to their name.

They were on their way to Subrail Park with their landlord to watch a soccer match when they received a telephone call.

“When we got to the scene my wife and I could only watch helplessly as the fire destroyed all our belongings,” he said.

His wife, Mrs Vilomena, said they were fortunate no one was at home when the fire occurred.

“We are seeking assistance in any form to at least help us start from scratch,” the emotional housewife said.

“At the moment we feel like we’re in the middle of nowhere and nowhere to turn to for help.

My husband is a poor canecutter and we are struggling to make ends meet.”

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro confirmed the incident adding that the fire inflicted around $30,000 worth of damage to the property.

Ms Naisoro said the house belonged to a 63-year-old farmer.
