Castaway appoints environment officer

CASTAWAY Island resort has appointed an environment officer as part of its continuing commitment to preserve and protect the marine environment.

Kolinio Mataiyaga Vulaono, a graduate of the Fiji National University, will be responsible for the environmentally-sustainable use of marine and land-based resources of the resort.

According to the resort, Mr Vulaono will work in partnership with other tourism operators, communities, Government and non-government organisations. He will also promote OZONE, which is Outrigger Resorts’ global conservation initiative centred on protecting the health of the world’s coral reefs and oceans.

Mr Vulaono will also assist in the implementation of guest education awareness programs and co-ordinate educational workshops.
