All-China Women’s Federation (ACWF) president Shen Yueyue has praised the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa for being a leader with great vision for the women in Fiji.
Ms Yueyue met with a Fijian delegation from the ministry led by Mrs Vuniwaqa and a few non-governmental organisation representatives in Beijing, China, last week.
“We have committed our contribution to its strategic relationship and the willingness to progress women’s development to the next level with Fiji,” Ms Yueyue said.
“Fiji is the first Pacific Island country to have a diplomatic relationship with China.
“Bilateral relations in all areas are needed to elevate strategic relations to another level.”
Ms Yueyue said the federation enjoyed a good friendship with the ministry and other women organisations in Fiji and was willing to continue to work for women’s development in the country.
Ms Vuniwaqa said the visit had given a new sense of direction to progress the vision of women empowerment in Fiji.
“Fiji has a lot to learn from China,” she said.
