THE Baby Bombers is a development team from the Browning Bombers Club aimed at helping develop players to become future touch players for Fiji. The side has booked a place in the semi-final of the Suva Touch Association season one competition this week. Baby Bombers defeated Silver Brothers 16-4 in the quarter-final of the men’s division at Sacred Heart College ground in Nasese, Suva on Saturday.
“We were confident to qualify for the semi-final as it is our development team and we have started to work on the young players from now,” coach Ledua Macuna said.
“It is important for us to develop players so that when the time comes they can feature in our senior side Browning Bombers team.
“The players played according to the game plan given to them by the coaches and they stuck to it to get the result in our favour.”
Ledua said their plan was to develop players from an early stage.
“It is a five-year development plan where the players started since the players competed from U17 competition and this is the first time the team has qualified for the semi-final,” he said.
“We are looking forward to win the title. The youngest player in the team is Carter George who is in Year Six at Vatuwaqa Primary School.”
Meanwhile, the draws for the semi-finals will be finalised later this week.
