A 5.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Fiji region this morning.
The moderate size earthquake occurred at a depth of 582km at 7:47am.
The seismic activity was located 337km Southeast of Labasa; 443km Northwest of Nukualofa, Tonga and 383km East of Suva.
The Mineral Resources department said the offshore seismic activity did not pose any immediate threat to the region.
But the department will keep on monitoring for any further updates.
