ROAD works currently underway outside Labasa Town will ease travel plans for daily commuters from the rural areas of Vunivutu and Wainikoro.

Road inspector Hishall Datt said works on the 16 kilometres stretch should be completed soon.

“The torrential downpour from the two recent Tropical Cyclones Josie and Keni has made the road works even more urgent,” he said.

“The 16 kilometre road is used frequently by seasonal cane farmers in the Daku Sector who are part of the Fairtrade Labelling certification by the Fiji Sugar Corporation.”

The team is working along the Natabe Road, Vunivitu, about 30 km from Labasa Town.
