POLICE have questioned and released a man who allegedly conned six farmers in Wainimala, Naitasiri and some farmers on Vanua Levu of their yaqona cash.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said investigation into the case was in progress.

Ms Naisoro said the farmers were allegedly duped by the man to sell their yaqona worth over $200,000 on their behalf.

A hotelier in Nausori also came out claiming to have been allegedly conned by the man too after the farmers had an outburst on social media – leaving an unpaid apartment bill of $8000.

“The matter was reported to us,” said Ms Naisoro.

“It is alleged the man lured the farmers to uproot their yaqona and give it to him to sell in Labasa as they would get double returns due to high price of yaqona in the North.
