A 24-YEAR-old man is dead after a motor vehicle accident at Nakabuta in Sigatoka yesterday morning.
Police have confirmed the victim was travelling in a three tonne truck with three others when the 23-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road and tumbled down a cliff.
Spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the driver who had fled the scene after the alleged incident was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
She said a man and a woman were admitted at the Sigatoka hospital while the driver was being questioned at the Sigatoka Police Station.
The road death toll stands at 50 compared to 46 for the same period last year.
