NABUKELEVU-I-Ra Primary School in Kadavu is organising a 7s rugby tournament to help improve the education of its students.

The school will host the two-day tournament to raise funds to build some teachers’ quarters.

The tournament will see 32 teams competing from October 10 to 12.

“The tournament will have 24 teams from Kadavu and eight teams from Suva,” tournament development committee member, Iliesa Bacita said.

“This is the first sevens tournament organised by the school.

The tournament is actually a form of fundraising project to build and repair the teachers’ quarters.

“Constructing the teachers quarters is not cheap because it requires a lot of resources and manpower.”

Bacita said the school management, the development committee and the community of Nabukelevu-i-Ra had been working together to make this project a success.

“We are arranging for a boat to take Suva fans and supporters over to Kadavu island which will make transportation plans easier. We are waiting for the numbers of people willing to go, so we can make arrangements,” he said.

Team registration fee is $450 while the tournament winner will get $3000.
